Southern Albertan Winds

Chere sent me this today. The pictures were taken around the Medicine Hat area after a windstorm last week. (Medicine Hat is in the southeast corner of Canada's province of Alberta, near the Badlands.) The bales apparently weigh up to 1600 lbs and some were reported to have rolled up to 5 miles; others were rumoured to have gone even farther.





This is where some of the bales ended up. There are anecdotes floating around that claim that some of them seem to have somehow crested the Great Divide between BC and Alberta and from there floated against the currents down the Fraser River, past Vancouver and out to sea. There are even stories about some of them ending up in the Aluetian Islands and also in Eastern Hokaido, although these are undoubtedly apocryphal.
