Moth to a flame stupidity, and casual cruelty


This was in the Guardian's 24 hours in pictures, today. The caption read,
San Bartolomé de Pinares, Spain: A horse and rider jump over a bonfire in a cleansing ritual for the feast of St Anthony, the patron saint of animals
Of course, I would have written,
Spanish Catholic equestrians banned from drinking at future Feasts of St. Anthony.
I imagine elements of this ritual could be considered quite cleansing. The poor animal was probably completely cleansed of his rational mind.
