Once-blind apes and three-legged elephants

Here are two animals from the Guardian's Week in Wildlife. The first is Aman, a 20-year-old orangutan from Sarawak, Malaysia, "whose eyesight was restored after 10 years of blindness."

The second is Mocha, a female elephant from Lampang Province, Thailand, who stepped on a land mine near the Myanmar border. She is seen with her new fake leg at the Friends of the Asian Elephant Hospital.

So we giveth and taketh away and then giveth some more, but I doubt we are done taking.
