Robert Fisk: Truth is the First Casualty

Robert Fisk, the Middle East correspondent for the Independent, lives in Beirut and has for over thirty years. His book, Pity the Nation (1990) is an intimate and accurate account of Lebanon from 1975 to 1990, including the previous wars with Israel, in 1978 and 1982.

The first line of his latest article, Once again, truth is the first casualty of war, reads, "As many lies are now falling upon Lebanon as bombs."
